Upon completion of this short course, students should be able to:

• Explain the role, responsibilities, and ethical conduct required of a home care giver in a professional home care setting.
• Identify the basic systems of the body and explain how common health conditions affect a client’s daily care needs.
• Apply safe and respectful techniques to support clients with daily hygiene and personal care routines.
• Support clients with healthy eating and feeding by applying basic nutrition principles and safe practices.
• Assist clients with movement, transfers, and light exercise by using correct techniques and appropriate equipment.
• Monitor and report changes in a client’s condition by using basic vital sign checks and observational skills.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic care environment by applying effective infection prevention and control practices.
• Provide emotional support and communicate sensitively with clients, families, and care teams.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide basic first aid while ensuring the client’s safety and comfort.
