The focus of this course is on businesses, specifically exploring the role of businesses in society, legal forms of business ownership, business plan, location of the business as well as analysing the environment in which the business operates and the role of general management in the success of a business (i.e., planning, organising, leading, and controlling).

To be sustainable a business needs to be managed. To survive over the long term, the practices of the accountant, psychologist, physician and lawyer need to be managed. Whether an organisation is a profit seeking (such as an accounting firm, a manufacturer, retailer, wholesaler or logistics company) or a non-profit-seeking organisation (such as a church or school), it needs to be carefully managed to be sustainable and survive over the long term. The target audience for this course is therefore every individual working in a profit or non-profit-seeking business as well as business owners.
